Helping others help themselves...

I have 30+ years of experience helping those who seek a little extra help managing life.  She believes that a big component of communication is listening and essential to healthy relationships.  She will help guide you to the kind of communication that allows you to reach out and express relational needs in a way that will allow you to be generous, kind, and unselfish.  All relationships – parents, marriage, children, friends and work – can be challenging, discouraging, or overwhelming.  I will help give you the skills to turn toward your relationship instead of against it or away from it.  I will help you develop relationships that can bring happiness.  I have been married for 33 years and have worked alongside my husband to build a relationship that brings us both enjoyment and endurance.  We learned to have gratitude during the abundance and work together, talk through, and listen when life is challenging.

I have a broad range of experience from serving in public schools as a teacher and counselor, to serving in a mental health facility, and serving in a private practice office.  I am genuine and prayerful in working with children who may be experiencing trauma or difficult anxieties, couples who may need assistance learning to listen and understand their partners needs and wants, individuals dealing with anxiety or depression, or young adults trying to figure out life.  In my office, I will make you feel welcome, loved and will walk beside you during your season of change.  Change is needed to heal, and change requires courage.  Your presence here indicates that you have courage.  You will not have to face change alone.  I will help you prepare a plan for healing that is focused on such evidence-based practices as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, and Solution Focused Therapy while being infused with sound scripture.

Life would be different if we could only believe what God says, we are fearfully and wonderfully made.  If we could confidently and joyfully stand on his word, forgiveness and healing could be a natural part of our everyday life.  This way of being can be accomplished through the diligent determination and hard work that is presented through counseling and therapy.  I will listen, pray with you, and walk by your side as you journey through the mountains and valleys in life.  Your trials can become your testimony!

The bible is filled with confidence building words such as “endurance” and “steadfastness” 1 Corinthians 15:58 and Luke 21:19 give one the assurance that, no matter what trial we are working through, His word allows us to remain firmly planed and know he is always with us.  Endurance builds grit and the ability to keep moving toward a goal, learning and growing in a beautiful life God wants us to have.  Steadfastness is the quality of being resolutely and dutifully firm and unwavering.

My family is my center, and they offer me lessons in grace.  I love to laugh; it is good for the soul.  My two young grandsons provide ample opportunity for laughter and are the reason I now call Oklahoma home.  I have three sisters and my mom that are my best friends.   I love summer, sunshine, and being outside with family, laughter, and enjoying the beauty God provides every day.
